About Us
Who runs Autographica? Well we have been asked this question many times before, so, for those of you who don't already know, here is the answer........Autographica is a full time business owned and run by Dave Phillips (Movie Star Autographs UACC 89) and Jason Joiner, and are part of the Showmasters family of events. Dave is a full time autograph dealer and has been for many years, whilst Showmasters run a number of other events, including, Collectormania and The London Film and Comic Con.
The idea of the show came to Dave whilst on a buying trip to the USA during which he met some of the men who walked on the moon. He realised at that event that shows in the UK lacked a little something! UK shows tended to be either smelly sports halls or giant barns half full of traders selling everything from bags to Beanies, but rarely autographs, (at least rarely genuine ones) so he decided to do something about it
"It took us a while to get some guests together, and a little longer to convince the autograph dealers in the UK that a show aimed at the autograph collector alone could work" but after about 15 months of hard work it finally paid off, Autographica 2000 was a success in every respect. Many of the dealers had a record weekend and none of the problems associated with so many other shows, and by the end of the weekend we had taken a significant number of bookings for Autographica 2001. We now have a show with the best dealers (and no bloody beanies!), the best guests, and a friendly supportive crowd that attend the show in ever increasing numbers.
Over the years, we have seen a partner come and go, and another, Jason Joiner, recently combine with us to take the show onward and upward to new heights. Our current venue, is easily the best yet, and we hope to be able to remain here for a number of years yet.
Autographica just keeps growing stronger, whilst other show promoters continue to recycle old guests and struggle to get new ones, Autographica continue to attract new top class and unusual guests, and all without the signing problems associated with so many conventions and small town shows.
Almost every day we receive an email or letter telling how much customers enjoyed the last event, and how much they are looking forward to the next. To all the many 1000's of people that have now attended Autographica, we would like to say thank you, and we look forward to seeing you all at the next event.
